Tasman signs international lock

Tasman has addressed some concerns about the troublesome locking department with the signing of Fijian international Tevita Cavubati.

At 2.0m tall and 120kg, the lock / blindside flanker is based in Fiji and has represented his country five times.

He narrowly missed selection in Fiji's Rugby World Cup squad last year and played for the Fijian Warriors during this year's development tournament with NZ's extended Super 15 squads, Tonga and Samoa.

Cavubati, 24 he made his test debut against Tonga last year. He has previously played in the ITM Cup in 2008 and 2010 for Taranaki.

"At 2m tall he will give us excellent aeril ability and strong ball carrying options," said Tasman ceo Andrew Flexman.

Cavubati will play for Waimea Old Boys club and arrives in the region early April.
