Nelson Bays squad named for Cecil Shield in Tasman trial

Nelson Bays' representative rugby selectors Gary Stevens and Kahu Marfell have named a 27-player squad to prepare for Monday's annual Cecil Shield match against Marlborough at Jubilee Park.

The Nelson Bays squad is due to train tonight at Neale Park, with a further run on Sunday at Jubilee Park from which a final 22 will be selected for Monday's game. Nelson Bays currently hold the Cecil Shield after beating Marlborough 42-17 last year at Trafalgar Park.

With the match also doubling as a Tasman trial, those players not included in the final 22 will continue to be analysed throughout the remainder of the club season.

The squad does not include any of Tasman's contracted players.

Tonight's training starts at 6pm, with Sunday's run starting at 12.30pm. Monday's game kicks off at 1.30pm. Unavailable or injured players should contact either Stevens, ph 0211081391, or Marfell, ph 0272492332.
