Kids for Free at Makos home games
In a new marketing push, the Tasman Rugby Union has announced that children age 12 and under will be admitted free to all Tasman Makos' home games this season, beginning with tomorrow's match against Canterbury at Trafalgar Park.
According to TRU marketing manager Les Edwards, the idea is to give families with young children a price break so that attending Makos' matches is more affordable.
“We believe that mums and dads want to take their kids to see the Makos play but pricing in the past has made that difficult," Edwards said.
“Adult prices remain the same as in 2011, so effectively those with young families can now save money or come along with some extra in their pockets to buy the kids a treat.”
The Kids For Free offer has been made possible by the sponsorship of Nelson-based accountancy firm, Richards Woodhouse.
"We at Richards Woodhouse are proud to be supporting our youth of today, who are of course our leaders of tomorrow," said partner Tony Healey.
There are some restrictions with the offer. The children must be accompanied by a paying adult and it applies only to the new uncovered East Stand and the embankment. Student pricing applies for children wishing to be seated in the West Stand.
The TRU urges those attending the match to not leave ticket buying to the last minute.
“The weather forecast for Friday is a beautiful sunny day and a clear evening so we anticipate a massive walkup crowd," said Edwards.
"Tickets are available at numerous outlets in the region including Nelson i-Site, Richmond Mall and Whitwells Motueka, so please buy early to beat the rush.” General admission embankment tickets cost $17 for adults and $12 for pensioners and students, while tickets to the general admission East Stand will cost $22 for adults and $17 for pensioners and students on match day.
Some covered seats in the West Stand remain at $27 for adults and $22 for pensioners and students, while uncovered West Stand seats are available at $22 for adults and $17 for pensioners and students.
