Tickets for the Hook a Mako event are available from the Nelson Mail (Nelson and Richmond offices) until August 16. Tickets are strictly limited to 120 and are priced at $20. For more details, contact Justine Jamieson on 546 2831 or Les Edwards at Tasman Rugby 021 412 335 or info@makos.co.nz

On Wednesday, August 21 the Tasman Makos will be holding a special event at Trafalgar Park Pavilion.

'Hook a Mako' is a fundraising effort for the club and promises to be a memorable occasion giving everyone, in particular businesses, the opportunity to take advantage some of the players' extra special talents.

One of the more charismatic characters in the team, Tasman Makos' loose forward Joe Wheeler will be your host for a night full of fun, games and entertainment.

Free nibbles will be served up courtesy of the Vic Brew Bar, goodie bags will be provided for all in attendance and there will be a cash bar on site for refreshments.

Players will be auctioned off in sets of two, so come along, bring your chequebook and make your bids for some top talent to promote your business; lend a helping hand with your kids' sports team, or even just some extra help around the house.

In addition to the quirky advertising campaign for the event featuring Joe Wheeler,  the Nelson Mail has put together four video interviews with four players up for auction on the night: Joe Wheeler, Tevita Koloamatangi, Quentin MacDonald and Robbie Malneek.

The videos will run on Nelsonmail.co.nz over the next few days on Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday, beginning today with Joe Wheeler and continuing tomorrow with Tevita Koloamatangi
