Makos Player Profile Mitchell ScottName: Mitchell John Scott

Age: 23
Position: Wing / Fullback
Club: Nelson Rugby Football Club (“tap, tap”)
Makos #: 91
Makos Caps: 24

At what age and at what position did you first play rugby?

At age 4, I think I was halfback when I got old enough to have a position.

Who was your biggest influence to become a better rugby player?
My father was an All Black who passed away when I was 3 [Stephen Scott, AB # 811], so that provided motivation. However I have received the most support from my mum. She came to all my games and is my number one supporter. Without her I wouldn’t be where I am today.

When did you realise you might be any good at the rugby?
I dunno, I’m still trying to figure that out.

Who has been your biggest influence on life away from the game?
My mum Helen and step dad Pete most importantly, but also my friends and extended family have always supported me through good times … and bad (ha ha).

Who in the Makos gives you the biggest grief and why?
All the team give each other plenty of grief but probably Bryce Heem, he’s just annoying.

Who do you like to give grief to and why?
Banksy & Billy (Guyton) are both special humans, but especially Billy, he’s something else that kid.

Name any player in world rugby who you would most like to be like and why?
Ryan “Hutch” Hitchison – physically gifted and has some of the best footwork in Western Australian rugby. Him or Jimmy Cowan.

What is the one thing that people don’t know about you?
I’m very religious and I don’t swear or drink alcohol.
