Fans go wild for Makos match [Nelson Mail]

GO WILD: Young fans stay warm in onesies at a Makos game.

Sharks, dinosaurs, zebras and other creatures were spotted in the 6000-strong crowd at Tasman's win over Otago yesterday.
Trafalgar Park was like a modern day Noah's Ark as fans dressed up in their favourite animal onesies for a Family Fun Day at the afternoon game.
Marketing manager Les Edwards said it was the best turnout of the season and helped the Tasman Makos to a 32-24 victory.
"It was just enormous. I was very pleased with the turnout of the kids in the onesies and some of the adults. I think it's a tradition that we can carry on.
"It was pretty cool. It helped the Makos win the game having a home ground advantage like that."
A $500 prize was up for grabs to those who took a photo of themselves at the game wearing an animal costume. Shark onesies were the most popular, Edwards said.
The TV commentators also remarked on the impressive turnout in a competition that has struggled to attract people to games across the country.
"Crowds are down across the nation but Tasman is bucking the trend."
