CarCo The Mako Says...

Hi Makos FINatics, it is great to be back. Everyone at the Shark Tank is pumped about bringing yet another exciting ITM Cup competition to Blenheim and Nelson. I’m sure the mighty Makos will acquit themselves well and will hopefully go one better than last season.

The team has been very busy over the last week or so. 22 July was Induction day when most of the team came together. This day is always enjoyable as the players get to catch up with each other, listen to a few speeches, have lunch with the sponsors and receive some gear.

The squad is shaping up very well although some new faces may be added after pre-season matches to be played by our Emerging Players team.

On Sunday the squad hosted the NBS Makos Family Funday. Really wet weather did not prevent 300 kids with their family and whanau showing up for a great morning. It only shows that mini Makos really love the water too!

This Saturday at 6pm I will be at Trafalgar Park in Nelson for our first home hit out when the Makos Emerging Players squad takes on an Otago XV in our annual pre-season fixture. Tickets are only $10 for a covered stand, $5 for an uncovered stand while Kids 12 years & younger are free thanks to RWCA.

This year the Tasman RU has a new ticketing partner and process so we will be testing that out at the Otago match. Gates open at 5.30pm.

Ticketing outlets this season are Floorpride Civic Theatre in Blenheim, Nelson i-Site, Richmond Mall and your nearest NBS branch.

Next Thursday the squad heads over to Lansdowne Park in Blenheim to play Wellington at 5.30pm. Tickets are just $5 an adult at the gate and Kids 16 years and younger are free.

For ITM Cup, even though RWCA Kids 12 Years & Younger are Free they will need to be ticketed with a paying customer (4 kids per adult) so we can keep track of our attendance data and keep everyone safe and accounted for.

It won’t be long now until our first ITM Cup match against Waikato in Hamilton (14 August) and our first home game against Bay of Plenty in Nelson (21 August).

Be sure to get your tickets and I’ll see you at Shark Park on Saturday.
