Tasman Makos chopper in some goodwill to Kaikoura
In an outreach to children and parents impacted by the recent earthquakes, Tasman Makos captain Shane Christie and half-back Billy Guyton will helicopter in on Monday November 28.
The Makos' trip has been made possible by sponsor Helicopters New Zealand (HNZ), who have donated the flight expenses.
"We've flown various organisations in over the last two weeks and it's our pleasure to assist Tasman RU to bring some fun into the lives of Kaikoura's school children and their parents", HNZ chief executive Keith Mullett said.
Monday's visit will see the Makos entourage arrive at Kaikoura's Takahanga Domain around 10am before heading to Kaikoura High School.
From 11am, skills sessions and games will take place before a sausage sizzle lunch is provided.
Some team rippa rugby games and photos will conclude the day's proceedings.
The players will be accompanied by Tasman Rugby Union CEO Tony Lewis and Rugby Development Officer Tim Manawatu.
Manawatu's whanau hail from Kaikoura and he will run the various activities alongside Christie and Guyton.
Lewis was delighted that the visit could be arranged.
"Kaikoura's rugby and general communities have undergone a great deal of trials and stress over the last two weeks and being able to go in and give some fun and light relief for a day is what our players are good at."
