Mako Men & Women Player Awards

On Friday 12 October, following the end of the regular season, the Mako Men & Women teams gathered at The Bach restaurant, Stoke, to celebrate with their annual awards presentation.

The Mako Women team awards went to the following:

- Mako Woman - Jessica Foster-Lawrence

- Iron Woman (Defender) - Crystal Mayes

- Team Woman - Anna Bradley

- Rookie of the Year - Ann Bradley

The Mako Men awards went to the following:

- Player of the Year (as selected by the Coaches) - Will Jordan

Talented fullback Will Jordan is a standout young player who has captured the imagination of the most knowledgeable Mako fans. He top the try scoring with 9 tries.

- Mako Man (as selected by the Players) - Ethan Blackadder

Ethan Blackadder has earned respect and plaudits for his 80 minute performances in all 10 matches. He is a useful lineout option, makes many carries, consistently bending the line, and is a defensive machine.

- Gallantry Award (Defender) - Ethan Blackadder

Ethan Blackadder consistently had the best defensive stats - tackles & turnovers

- Rookie of the Year - Ray Niuia

Ray Niuia came to the Mako via the Waitohi club in Marlborough as the squad's back up hooker. His vigorous play has meant the intensity at scrum time and around the park doesn't drop when he takes the field.
