Mako women score 5 tries in 32-35 loss to Harbour

What a game, what an ending! After trailing 8-22 at half-time, our Golden Bay Fruit Tasman Mako women stormed back in the second half showing daring and pace to narrowly go down to the Harbour Hibiscus in Albany.

Some absolute worldly tries, great running, defence and great play all round. Harbour did well in the 1st half and Tasman were rocked early. They did so well to come back in the second half to make things interesting, but Harbour scored just enough and defended well enough to hold on to get the win!

Both sides look vastly different to last year and have already played better rugby in their first hit out than the entirety of last season.

The Mako loose forwards, lead by openside flanker Sui Pauaraisa and supported by Tamara Silcock and Jess Harvey, played an absolute blinder as a unit, running hard and putting in massive efforts on defense, while showing some serious skill with ball in hand. Former Mako Hayley Hutana directed the show well from fullback for Harbour as did Karla Wright-Akeli at first-five for Tasman.

North Harbour 35 defeated Tasman 32 (Tries: Easter Savelio, Eleri James-Sitters, Karla Wright-Akeli, Jess Foster, Eve Findlay tries; Pen & Con (2): Eve Findlay). HT: 22- 8.
