Younger brother of Atu, Sam is also a product of the Marlborough Boys College 1st XV. He made his debut at hooker in round 10 of the 2018 NPC, and has been a part of the squad since, playing in 15 matches including the 2020 NPC Premiership team.

Sam has represented Tonga in 7 Test matches over 2021-2022 and played 10 matches for Moana Pacifika in Super Rugby in 2022.
