Marko the Mako says...

2014 shapes up as being our most exciting season ever, especially know we get to swim with the big fish in the ITM Cup premiership. But being Makos we will be prepared and not afraid to put the bite on those Big City Unions.

Our Emerging Players are now on tour having played Canterbury yesterday in Glenmark and Otago in Dunedin on Saturday. Yesterday they also enjoyed meeting up with our Marlborough sponsors at Farmlands in Blenheim in the morning.

When they get back on Monday the full Golden Edge Tasman Makos squad will be announced. I expect to make the cut being the only mascot we have.

It will be great to have our Super players back in the shark tank. Congrats to Shane Christie & Liam Squire who were called into the All Blacks training camp yesterday and today. How good is that!

The team will be excited to get out and play a pre-season game next Thursday 7 August against Manawatu at Trafalgar Park, Nelson. It will be good to have a serious hit out together.

Then on Sunday 10 August we will again be at Trafalgar Park but this time to mix and mingle with the kids and families at the annual Makos Family Funday. This is a fantastic morning event that goes from 9.30am to 12.30pm and gives everyone a chance to meet the team, get autographs, have a go at the SBS Can Kick competition, go on a fun run and generally have fun.

Then it’s back over to Blenheim for our first ITM Cup competition match which is a Grand Final replay against Hawkes Bay. Gates open at 12 noon, there will be a curtain raiser then the main match kicks off at 2.35pm.

I look forward to tossing a Fin Up with you all at these events.

Fins Up, Marko
